The official mobile app for DoubleDutch I/OExtended.Permission Explanation:The language of Android's permissions is determined by Googleand DoubleDutch is unable to change it. This means that thepermissions language can be very all encompassing, even though weare usually not accessing all of the device features described inthe permissions list.Identity (Your Accounts)This allows us to access the email address associated with thedevice and present it to the user during Sign InContacts (“read your contacts”)We do this to read the user’s contact to pre-fill the profilefiller and the Choose Email part of sign in. This is tied to theREAD_PROFILE permission as well. We only look at the “Me” contactto get profile picture, name, email, occupation, and occupationtitle. This makes the sign in process much easier, as the user isnot required to type in an email address or fill out these profilefields manually.Calendar (“modify calendar events and send email to guestswithout owner’s knowledge, read calendar events plus confidentialinformation, read your own contact card”)We require this permission to enable syncing of My Agenda with thedevice calendar. This is the READ_CALENDAR permission which we needto see if we already added events to the calendar. Without this, wewould only be able to add events and the calendar would createduplicates each time you pressed “Sync my agenda”. The permissionalso lets you add events with guests, in which case it would alsoemail them invitations, but we do not do that.LocationWe require access to the GPS to enable us to track the lat/long ofeach check ins/status updates. This data is only used internally byDoubleDutch to monitor and improve product performance.Photos/Media/FilesWe require this permission to cache information locally on thedevice to enable offline usage and faster performanceCamera/MicrophoneWe require this permission to enable photo sharing features in theappWifi Connection InformationWe require this permission to use the cellular data network and/orwifi.
